PLASMA DONATION
DONATE AT THE BLOOD CONNECTION
The Blood Connection offers plasma donation services at most of our donation centers. During the donation process, a machine collects your plasma by separating it from your red blood cells and platelets and then returning those to your body. This process takes about 90 minutes from the time the needle is inserted to removal, and you can donate every 28 days.

WHO CAN DONATE PLASMA?
Did you know AB negatives are known as the “Universal Plasma Donor”? AB negative is also the rarest blood type in the world. But regardless of your blood type, plasma donors must be at least 17 years old to donate. If you have ever been pregnant, ask about receiving a complimentary HLA test at your next whole blood donation to determine if you are eligible to donate plasma.

WHAT IS PLASMA?
Plasma is the liquid portion of your blood that transports water and nutrients to your body’s tissues. It’s one of four parts of your blood but makes up 55%. This light-yellow liquid contains essential enzymes, proteins and salt. Once you donate, your plasma can last up to one year.
THE PERKS OF GIVING PLASMA
Donating plasma with The Blood Connection is different from facilities that pay for plasma. All our plasma donations go directly to burn patients and those with blood disorders in your local hospitals. And not only that, but you can also earn TBC Rewards every time you donate.
